I makes me a little sad to come back and find that no one has commented on your efforts (guess I'm just as bad, but I wanted to wait until I had actually listened before saying anything). Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for putting these 'mixtapes' together. What a nice reminder of what radio could (and did) sound like.
I was only around the Bay Area during the waning years of FM's great ride and caught the tail end of K-SAN. San Rafael's K-TIM held on a little longer and was always my favorite anyway. What a great era. How delightful to be surprised at every turn -- and turned on to a wide variety of music. I never knew what to expect -- which, I suspect, was the idea. Yet it all jelled somehow and the odd selections (and juxtapositioning) made sense. What's really amazing is something that's easy to forget -- this was usually all done on the fly in real time. No luxury of going back and yelling "redo!"
That spirit is what you've brought to the web. Wanted you to know that at least ONE person remembers -- and is THANKFUL you've decided to share your experience and memories and talent.
I'll remain anonymous for now. Forward into the past...
(Hope Blogger takes it this time -- third time's the charm. Just glad I remembered to copy my comments before trying to post.)
Hey miles, nicely done and sure makes one miss the good ol' days of UG radio! Cheers!
Hi Miles, I'm a wandering musician and happened on your page in time to enjoy your 59 reasons to be thankful ;)
Thanks!
If you want to have a listen to my music, by the way, you're more than welcome on my myspace page. On December 1st, this Friday, I'm going to upload a Xmas song which everyone could download for free. Since I'm broke this will be my Xmas gift to all my friends.
Against all consumerism and stupidity, in the name of true Xmas spirit.
Keep up the great job!
Peace & ciao
